This time last year, the atmosphere was thick with Valentine’s Day celebrations. Phones were buzzing with calls for candlelit dinners reservations, while chefs were sweating it out to meet up with takeout orders. Spas weren’t left out too, as they were fully booked for couples’ massages – love was in the air!
But there’s a flip now. The world is still battling with corona virus, and we have no choice but to stay at home to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Now, you shouldn’t have to worry that the day would be boring or less romantic spending it at home. It could as well be one of the most memorable Valentine’s Day you’ll always remember.
Consider these sweet ideas:
Decorate your space
Remember how the lovely ambiances of your favourite restaurants made you feel loved immediately you walked in? You can also add some love and magic to your home with some inexpensive decorations.

You could dress up your walls with some flower wreaths, your windows with some red curtains against a white wall, and your couch with a few statements throw pillows on the couch. Prop up the corners of your home with some heart-shaped balloons and make your space romantic.
Make breakfast in bed
We doubt there’s any romantic gesture that beats breakfast in bed. Start Valentine’s Day by making your partner’s favourite breakfast meal and add some creativity to it. Pancakes, toasts, Pizza, eggs, and yam are some food items that could be heart-shaped, thanks to cookie cutters!

Take an exotic bath
Enjoy a luxurious relaxing bubble bath that’s got some rose petals and essential oils in it. Think of it as a honeymoon – with some romantic music playing in the background, lit candles surrounding the bath, and some chocolates with your favourite glass of wine.
Wear matching outfits
Wearing matching outfits are a cool way to show some affection for each other. Celebrate the day with some fashion and style. It doesn’t matter if you’ll be indoors – you could as well dress up in style. Opt for cool outfits like t-shirts (with lovely quotes inscribed on them), sweatshirts, red and black pajamas – which is perfect for a Netflix and chill.
Plan a game night
If your partner loves competition just like you, you could set up some games to make the day more fun. Classic board games, 2 player card games, and trivia games are some stay-at-home date games. Don’t forget to add some sweet snacks and cocktails to make it more romantic.

Cook
Don’t let the pandemic stop you from indulging in your favourite meals. A special home-cooked meal for your partner is a great way to show affection, and you don’t have to have culinary skills to do that. You can download some simple recipes from your favourite chefs and cook.

Binge on movies
This is a great idea if you aren’t up to a lot of activities. Make a lineup of movies – include some romantic comedy movies – and plan an all-day movie marathon with your partner. Don’t forget your buckets of popcorn!

Remember it’s a season of love and it would be nice to give and receive gifts too. Consider gifting your partners and loved ones items that’ll make them feel special and loved.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
